OUR PERSONNEL
Dr. Hillary Segl
Dr. Segl is a graduate of Bucknell University, and then got her DVM from Texas A&M University rather a long time ago. She started Alpha Animal Hospital in 2005, and enjoys the day to day challenges of animal health. Her hobbies include quilting, hiking, traveling, and reading – mainly mysteries, science fiction, and biographies. Her current menagerie consists of three spoiled cats and a shaggy dog.
Dr. Jessica Kreher
Dr. Kreher started as a vet assistant at the hospital during undergraduate school at the University of Virginia. She graduated from Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in 2012, and has been working with us as an associate vet ever since. She is now a proud (and overworked) homeowner, and shares her house with husband Mark and 3 children, small generally pleasant critters, Luke Christina and Kate.
Dr. Janette Ellison, DVM
Dr. Ellison is a graduate of Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine. She is from rural Monroe County in southern West Virginia and grew up on a dairy and beef farm. The cats at the dairy barn ate and drank(milk) well, and that is where the love of cats started. She practiced in a mixed animal practice in Warrenton VA before choosing small animals only, and then finally started her own feline practice in 1991. She and her husband have five cats: Davey, Cat Ballou, Parker, Rae, and Earl Grey. In her extra time she enjoys sewing, college football, and Nationals baseball. Pictured in the photo is Parker who learned to jump on Dr. Ellison’s back for treats as a kitten and still does multiple times a day, often when she is not expecting it. Surprise!
Deb (Receptionist)
Deb is a retired biology teacher and she enjoys competing in canine agility trials, boating, and swimming. Deb has competed at the national level with USA Masters Swimming. Deb is seen in her photo with her dog Xena.
Travis (Hospital Manager, Lead Technician)
Travis has been with Alpha since 2021 and has special interests in surgery and innovative medicinal practices. He graduated from George Mason University from the Sociology department with a minor in Music Technology. Outside of work, Travis is an actively-gigging drummer and a full time pet parent with his partner to a cat, Millie, several fish, and the occasional invasive aquarium snail!
Grace (Veterinary Assistant, Surgical Assistant)
Grace is a student of Penn Foster and, after three years in their veterinary technician program, aims to graduate from their veterinary management department. Since 2023, she has been involved in Alpha's surgical team. Her love for animals was inspired by her grandfather who ran a rescue of his own for twenty years prior to retirement. Grace owns an array of pets with her partner, but her youngest canine member, Stiles, tags along and loves this job as much as she does. Outside of work, Grace is interested in reading, writing, and many sports including jujitsu!
Malina (Receptionist, Veterinary Assistant)
Malina came to the Virginia area from San Jose, California in 2010 and has worked with animals actively since 2020. She is currently a veterinary technician student and has been with Alpha since 2023 in multiple areas of the hospital. Outside of work, Malina enjoys music, spending time with her two rambunctious felines, Bowtie and Astro, and the gym!

Testimonials
Dr. Brooks is amazing! I'm so lucky that this place is really close to where I live. Our dog is always excited to see her, she's always very stealthy with shots. She also saved us money by scheduling our dog's spaying and tooth extraction under one anesthesia visit, which is something I hadn't thought of doing. I highly recommend her to everyone!
Libbie K., Richmond, VA
I absolutely LOVE Dr Seigl!! She was always soooo great with my pup. Frenchies are not the easiest dogs to help as they can have horrible allergies, but she ALWAYS worked with me. My Mina girl was sooo well tended by Dr. Seigl and her staff. I usually never had to wait- but I will say from having visited other vets, that it is worth the wait to have the waiting room to yourself. I always felt like my Mina girl was treated extra special ... I imagine Dr. Seigl and her staff made all the animals feel that way, which is why she is the BEST vet in NoVa. The prices were never high consiering the area. (that area tends to price gauge just because) ... Dr. Seigl is extremely smart. And, she always made sure my questions were answered. I was never rushed.
Best. Vet. Ever.
April K., Springfield, VA
Great Vets very kind and professional. I got lucky living so close, just across the street. Dr Hilary was great and the two additional Drs are equally great. I am usually let in fast and get great follow up.
